The world’s largest dog show, and notably one of the biggest events of the canine calendar, Crufts, has returned to The NEC in Birmingham today, with dog lovers across the UK and abroad hoping that their hound will be crowned Champion of Crufts 2015. Last year’s winner, Ricky the poodle and his handler Jason Lynn, took home the coveted rosette and trophy and competed against a variety of four-legged friends including a Rottweiler, Samoyed, Wire Fox Terrier, Pomeranian and an American Cocker Spaniel in order to be crowned Best in Show. This year, over 21,000 dogs and their handlers will be hoping to follow in Ricky’s paw-steps as they compete in a range of events over the next four days. The event runs from 5th March – 9th March 2015, and sees both dog and handler take part in breed show groups, as well as the four activity areas: agility, obedience, flyball and heelwork to music. If you’re not attending, don’t worry! Crufts will be broadcast by Channel 4 and More4, with Clare Balding once again presenting the show. In a recent interview about the upcoming competition, Clare said “The quintessentially British event is a four-day celebration of everything that we love about dogs. I enjoy the variety of the programmes, with all of the action from the various competitions, from agility to showing, and the interviews and features with interesting and passionate people about the issues that are important to dog lovers.” A quick run-down of the events by day: Thursday 5th Match 2015 – Gundog Friday 6th March 2015 – Working & Pastoral Saturday 7th March 2015 – Terrier & Hound Sunday 8th March 2015 – Toy & Utility If you want to stay tuned with all the goings-on at Crufts 2015 – you can watch the live broadcasting of the event via YouTube, please see below.
